Staff representatives on new UCT Council

UCT employees have a voice on Council via their administrative staff representatives: Lewelyn Aranes (grades 1 to 4), Lesley Shackleton (grades 5 to 14) and Professor David Aschman, who represents academic staff. Staff members are welcome to raise any concerns or to discuss Council decisions and meetings with them.

"I am keen to improve the communication about Council activities on the Campus," said Shackleton. "I am also using the new Professional, Administrative, Support and Service departments (PASS) Forum as a feedback mechanism to administrative staff."

Aranes said he was honoured to represent grades 1 to 4. "My main aim is to work for the people who have been retrenched, that they get a chance to apply for the jobs of those staff who are retiring or leaving voluntarily."
