School sevens strut their stuff

Paarl Gym A were crowned champions of UCT's second annual Schoolboy Sevens Rugby tournament, beating last year's winners, SACS A, by 35-15 on Friday, September 12.

The Paarl outfit, a force in South African schools rugby, finished with two sides in the top three after its B team won the third- and fourth-place playoff against a gritty Excelsior High by 20-5.

The one-day tournament, sponsored by Port Delta in Rondebosch, Red Hawk Spur and Powerade, fielded 22 sides drawn from 14 Western Cape schools.
