Winning streak continues

Cat on the mat: UCT ju-jitsu members get to grips.

The FNB UCT rugby first side has, without too much fuss or flash, inched its way into the top half of the Western Province super league. Following their 25-8 win - fly-half Gareth Wright (right) booted over 20 of these - over Villagers, they're now in fifth spot on the log. And with those points their relegation worries are a thing of the past. The side won't catch log leaders Stellenbosch - no one will - but finishing second for the season could well be on the cards. Although no one wants to get ahead of themselves. "The guys aren't thinking about the log," says manager John le Roux. "They're just thinking about winning the rest of their games and winning the second half of the season. Which would be phenomenal." And to think that less than two months ago the side seemed fated for the drop into the second league.
