Aubrey Lodewyk and Pretty Yende are the winners of the 2006 Schock Foundation Prizes for Singing, an annual competition sponsored by the Schock Foundation that is open to all full-time classical voice students at UCT's South African College of Music (SACM). The competition has two categories, namely Best Male Voice (Lodewyk) and Best Female Voice (Yende). Each contestant has to perform an opera aria, an oratorio aria, an art song and a song of their own choice. Second prize in the men's category went to Xolani Tabane, while Sipho Fubesi took third spot. Musa Spelman was the runner-up in the women's category, followed by Runette Botha. At the gala final round held in the Baxter Concert Hall, Schock's Brian Bechet announced the foundation's continued support for this prestigious event.
