UCT Cycling's back on track - thanks to acsis independent investment consultants, its new sponsor.
acsis announced its entry into the sport with the sponsorship of two professional teams, one of which is the UCT cycling team, as well as a junior academy, on 20 February.
UCT's biking octet lost its former sponsor at the end of last year. With the team's biking aspirations left hanging, Clyde Mallon, team captain, found the solution on top of a mountain, pedalling alongside acsis CEO Andrew Bradley.
Mallon made a pitch and the acsis UCT cycling team was born.
"Everything Clyde said was what we wanted at acsis," Bradley says. "It is a cultural fit."
What started as a shared passion between five friends has now developed into an established group of pro riders, Mallon says.
Six of the eight UCT team members will soon be competing in the Giro del Capo, the international event that starts in Paarl on 6 March and ends with the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour on 11 March.
