The FNB UCT First XV's flying start to the 2007 season continued when they edged out Collegians 10-3 in a hard-fought Super League A rugby clash in Mitchells Plain on 21 April.
The new-look UCT side has now dropped to the second spot on the Western Province Super League A log, a point below archrivals Stellenbosch, but with one game in hand.
The two teams locked horns over the past weekend in the always-anticipated intervarsity. For the first time in many years, the match took place at Newlands once more.
The win on 21 April means that the UCT side has scored three out of three this season following the 35-8 and 37-5 victories over Tygerberg and Durbanville-Bellville respectively. The FNB Maties, who have lost one game thus far, outscored UCT 120 to 82 so far this season. On the other hand, they've leaked 96 points this year, compared to UCT's miserly 16.
