I was deeply disappointed by the coverage of the Benatar debate in the last issue of the Monday Paper. I was present at the debate and Professor Benatar's arguments received much support from many in the audience. However, the Monday Paper chose to publish only letters (8!) critical of his standpoint. This is prejudiced to say the least. I for one applaud Professors courage in raising this issue. Professor Benatar is purely questioning whether the current approach to affirmative action actually benefits the previously disadvantaged. For any solution, this is a question that should be raised again and again, and to construe the simple asking of the question as racist is completely missing the point.
