The University of Cape Town (UCT) wrote to students this week, providing them with general guidelines on how to deal with incomplete work or exams for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the end of the first semester.
UCT is aware that in the context of remote teaching, some students, through no fault of their own, cannot complete their work as planned. The guidelines address:
Students are informed of the necessary processes for their relevant courses or exams. This includes who to contact about extensions; following the guidance of the relevant faculty, such as the Faculty of Health Sciences if it is a clinical course; and applications for the deferral of exams on medical and compassionate grounds.
The university strongly advises students to make every effort to complete outstanding coursework during the winter vacation and to submit their coursework as soon as possible. Doing so will help students cope better with the academic demands of the second semester.
Students should contact their faculty if they have specific queries.
