On Wednesday, 14 April 2021, Professor Isabelle Ansorge presented a Vice-Chancellor’s Inaugural Lecture: “Teaching the many (50) shades of blue – while the world is changing its shade.”
The Vice-Chancellor’s Inaugural Lecture Series is a central part of the university’s academic life, where inaugural lectures are held to commemorate the lecturers’ appointment to full professorship.
Professor Isabelle Ansorge is head of department and professor in the Department of Oceanography at the University of Cape Town. Her areas of research focus on Southern Ocean dynamics, Southern Ocean eddy transports of heat and salt, frontal dynamics and variability in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current and its effects on Sub-Antarctic Islands.
