The news reaching us about the fire damage to some of the important facilities, buildings, especially part of the UCT Library saddens us and I write to express to you and the entire community of UCT my sympathy for this loss. The loss of such historic and cherished architectural works dampens our spirits, but we know that UCT is made up of resilient scholars, innovators, and leaders and under your leadership, UCT will rebound and be stronger in the aftermath of this disaster.
