Senior UCT academic Professor Iqbal Parker has been elected to the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS).
Parker, a principal investigator in the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine, was one of 45 new members from 20 countries elected on 13 November in Trieste, Italy.
Established in 1983, TWAS has 880 "most distinguished scientists" who represent the best of science in the developing world, promoting scientific capacity and excellence for sustainable development in the South.
