International award for novel cancer research
12 February 2009
PhD student Emily Davis has won the international Roche Young Researcher Award for her research into novel treatments for cancer. Davis, a postgraduate student in the Department of Human Biology, investigates how Tbx2, a protein that plays an important role during the embryonic development of many species, causes cells to become cancerous. Her work reveals one of the mechanisms by which the Tbx2 protein contributes to oncogenesis and was published in leading cancer journal Oncogene.
