It doesn't happen too often, but this year the UCT Book Award went to two scholars, both honoured at Friday's graduation ceremony.
Prof Nigel Penn of the Department of Historical Studies and Prof Pippa Skotnes of the Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Arts were both named winners of the award, which recognises the publication of outstanding books written by members of faculty.
Penn was fêted for his book, The Forgotten Frontier: Colonist and Khoisan on the Cape's Northern Frontier in the 19th Century, and Skotnes for her title, Claim to the Country: The Archive of Wilhelm Bleek and Lucy Lloyd. Claim to the Country has also won this year's Outstanding Academic Title award from Choice Magazine.
