Enticing: High school learners were excited about the varsity life at UCT Open Day.
Thousands of high school learners, some in the company of their parents, tasted the university life when UCT hosted its annual Open Day on Saturday 16 April. Exhibits were held in various venues on Upper Campus and University Avenue became alive with high school students and their parents moving to the various exhibits and talks.
The learners were exposed to a wide range of campus life, and had the opportunity to speak face-to-face with staff from all academic programmes and student services, as well as senior students who provided valuable insights into what it takes to pursue particular study routes. The learners were also taken on library and residence tours and attended talks which were presented by the faculties and some of the support departments.
Another popular destination was the Student Learning Centre in the Steve Biko Building, where students were allowed to submit online applications.
