Prof Mino Caira of UCT's Department of Chemistry ended his three-month research stint at the National University of Córdoba (UNC) in Argentina on a high when the university awarded him the title of Visitante Distinguido, or Distinguished Visitor.
This to recognise Caira's sustained research collaboration in bilateral projects, some funded by South Africa's National Research Foundation, with counterparts at UNC.
The award was presented to Caira by the dean of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences at UNC, Prof Miriam Strumia, in a special ceremony where the UCT scholar also presented a lecture, When South meets South: Argentina/South Africa collaboration on pharmaceutical and agrochemical applications of cyclodextrin technology.
