The UCT community holds the people of Kenya in their hearts as they begin their period of mourning following the senseless and tragic incidents at Westgate.

We carry in our thoughts and prayers the victims and all families affected by the tragedy. In particular we think of the family of Mr James Thomas who died in the horror of this unspeakable event. He was known and loved by many in our community.

Many UCT staff members through their work have links with colleagues in Kenya and we have a large number of students from Kenya on our campus. The pain caused by this tragedy has touched many in our respective communities.
