Tata Madiba, your legacy will live on in us forever

The Students Representative Council at the University of Cape Town is deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. Our thoughts and prayers remain with our UCT Chancellor, Mrs Graça Machel, and the Mandela family during this enormously difficult time.

We call on all students, at UCT and across the Western Cape, to join us at today, Friday 6 December 2013, at 14h00, on the steps of Jameson Hall at UCT upper campus, to quietly reflect on Madiba's passing.

As future leaders of this great nation, it is up to us as students and the all youth across our country, to play a critical role in honouring Madiba's legacy through insuring that the lessons he taught us guide our actions towards each other.

Madiba, you will be deeply missed. Your passion for freedom, justice, equality and commitment to a free and fair society; will continue to inspire us forever more.
