UCT operations are in full swing. Students are hard at work studying and there is a focus all around the campus on preparing for exams. Consolidation week is a critical time in our calendar and we are very pleased to see both undergraduates and postgraduates in the library and residence rooms committing themselves to their work. Many UCT staff members are engaged in assisting students and creating an enabling environment so that everyone taking exams has the best possible opportunity to succeed. Of course there has been a multitude of operational decisions and adjustments because of recent events, in particular changes in relation to the exams, but it is heartening to see the commitment across all sectors of staff and students to ensure exams are concluded successfully.
There are ongoing discussions between the executive and various student and staff groupings on campus. These discussions are important to everyone and we remain committed to listening, learning and addressing issues that can change UCT for the better. The executive has engaged in several meetings with student groupings over the last days – some lasting though the night.
We remain committed to ongoing, open and positive engagement.
