The happiness and mental health of young people in today’s world will be the focus of a special roundtable discussion on World Mental Health Day.

Actress and TV host Bonnie Mbuli will be among a panel of high-profile guests discussing “Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World” at a roundtable event at the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Lung Institute to mark World Mental Health Day on Wednesday, 10 October.

The event, focused on the mental health and mental healthcare of children and adolescents in South Africa, is being hosted by UCT’s Alan J Flisher Centre for Public Mental Health (CPMH), in collaboration with the Social Responsiveness Committee in UCT’s Department of Psychiatry.

Other panel members include Professor Ashraf Kagee, Dr Jason Bantjes and Dr Sarah Skeen, all from Stellenbosch University, the South African Medical Research Council’s Dr Tara Carney, and Associate Professor Katherine Sorsdahl, from UCT’s CPMH.
