The Africa-Oxford Initiative (AfOx) Visiting Fellowship call now open
Deadline: 31 January 2020
The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme is designed for early to mid-career researchers. The programme supports African researchers working in any discipline to undertake part of their research in the University of Oxford,
using the university facilities and/or planning collaborative research with Oxford based colleagues.
AfOx is currently accepting applications for two fellowship programmes:
the AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme and the Senior AfOx Visiting
Fellowship Programme.

Essex International Visiting Fellowship call now open
Deadline: 31 January 2020
The Essex International Visiting Fellowships are the University of Essex's flagship research fellowship scheme, through which world-class researchers based outside the United Kingdom are supported to
go to Essex to work on a research project.
As this is a collaborative programme, applicants are required to identify an Essex researcher or group to host the visit and ensure the nature of the research has significant benefit for the host
department/school/centre and the wider research community at Essex University.

Share Africa Hackathon 2020
The Share Africa Hackathon 2020, an exciting initiative by Emmanuel Macron, President of France, invites African universities to share their proposals for innovative projects addressing one of a selection of challenges on the African
continent.
Share Africa is a platform aimed at developing and strengthening relations between France and Africa. One of its key projects, the Share Africa Hackathon 2020, offers university teams the opportunity to submit their novel project proposals for
feedback and support, and a chance to present and discuss their ideas at the Share Africa Forum in Paris, France.
The final deadline for submissions is 20 March 2020, although they encourage you to send your applications as soon as possible.

IN-PART: promoting university-industry collaboration.
The University of Cape Town has partnered with IN-PART to allow for a greater dissemination of research outputs to global industry partners. IN-PART is an online match-making platform for university-industry
collaboration.
IN-PART also provides industry with a platform where organisations can source research and developpment partners in specific areas via the IN-PART Discover function. The latest industry calls for opportunities have been released and
include:
- Development of novel drugs for the modulation of innate lymphoid cells.
- In vivo transdifferentiation as a therapeutic approach.
- Exploring the role of checkpoints and their inhibitors in veterinary cancer.

AAS DELTAS Africa II call: developing excellence in leadership, training and science in Africa
DELTAS Africa supports African-led development of world-class research and research leaders in Africa. The DELTAS Africa II call will fund subject areas
that reflect the current health and social issues in Africa, for example non-communicable diseases, trauma/injuries and disability, climate change, ‘one health’, as well as social sciences, humanities and cross-disciplinary priorities.
The programme aims to strengthen research leadership training and mentorship, cultivate professional environments to manage and support research, and build positive research cultures on the continent. Research studies supported by DELTAS Africa II
are expected to produce high quality scientific output and influence health or social policy or practice at the national or regional level.

Emerging Researcher Programme supervision workshop
This workshop will take the participants through the various processes involved in supervising postgraduates at UCT. Topics covered will include understanding the roles and styles of supervision, expectations and responsibilities and the
memorandum of understanding. This engaging workshop promises to help you in your career as a supervisor of master's and PhD students.
To cater for different supervisory styles and faculty requirements, the workshop will be divided into two streams: the natural and medical sciences, and engineering, and the social sciences, law, humanities and commerce.

Digital Library Service's Learning Lunches
Digital Library Services (DLS) is here to help you take control of your data and make your research more manageable and efficient. DLS specialise in a variety of research data services that cover a range of digital research needs
including digital scholarship, data curation, and geographic information systems.
In 2020 DLS will continue in our mission of sharing best practices and useful tools for managing data with the UCT community by running three ‘Learning Lunches’ training series during the meridian period.
