Nominations for the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Social Responsiveness Award are open. The distinguished award honours staff members who play an active development role in the university’s cultural, economic, political, scientific and social environment.
Launched in 2009, the prestigious award seeks to provide a clear institutional signal to members of the university that social responsiveness is an important institutional activity. Further, it recognises university staff members who demonstrate how social engagement can enhance the teaching and learning and research processes.
Valued at R35 000, the award is open to both individual staff and formal or informal groupings within the university community. Nominees must be employed by UCT on a permanent basis, or under a limited-term contract of at least two years, and they must be employed for a period of not less than 12 months prior to the date of nominations.
