In remembrance: Nompumelelo Siko

It is with a great sense of sadness that we mourn the loss of our colleague Ms Nompumelelo Queen Siko (45), a hygiene controller at the Student Housing Cleaning Division. Mrs Siko passed away on Saturday, 17 October 2020, after a long illness.
Mrs Siko joined UCT on 1 July 2016. However, due to illness she never commenced duties and was subsequently placed on permanent disability.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson and her son, Landisile. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2020, in her hometown of Somo in the Eastern Cape.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Siko family. We convey our heartfelt condolences to Mrs Siko’s family, friends and all who knew her. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time of grief.
