In remembrance: Nontembiso Ohzma Mpaka

We are filled with sadness as we write to inform you of the passing of our colleague, Nontembiso Ohzma Mpaka (44). She passed away on Tuesday, 29 December 2020 following complications brought on by a leg injury she sustained in October 2020.
Ms Mpaka worked as a hygiene controller in the Department of Student Affairs: Student Housing and Residence Life. She was based in the Residence Cleaning Department. She will be fondly remembered for her quiet and calm persona, and for being a loving, reliable and dependable member of the team.
Her funeral service will take place in her hometown of Cofimvaba, Komani in the Eastern Cape. The date is yet to be confirmed.
Ms Mpaka is survived by her mother and three daughters, Amanda (21), Angel (13) and Esethu (9). The university has reached out to offer support to the Mpaka family and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved Ms Mpaka during this time of bereavement.
