Dear students
I hope you are well and looking forward to the start of the academic year.
I am writing to urge you to register now for the continuation of your studies in your respective faculties, if you have not already done so.
As you know, registration for returning students (those in their second year of study and further) takes place online and runs until the end of February. Please help us to run this registration as efficiently as possible so we can all focus on getting the academic programme started. For more information on registrations, visit your faculty websites and PeopleSoft self-service. Please make every effort to familiarise yourself with the latest academic calendar as well so you are up to speed with details of how the university will run this year.
As previously communicated, the University of Cape Town (UCT) has elected to pursue teaching and learning in 2021 in terms of a “physically distanced, low-density campus” approach. This is to mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-19 during this second wave, and in preparation for a possible third wave.

We look forward to a productive year ahead, during which we are committed to continue delivering world-class learning experiences, wherever you are in your journey to graduation.
Warm regards
Associate Professor Lis Lange
Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning
