Dear colleagues
I want you to be the first to hear about a new initiative the University of Cape Town (UCT) is launching next year. It is a direct result of our commitment to Vision 2030 and to being not just the best university in Africa, but also the best university for Africa.
As early as 2018, UCT recognised that 4IR would disrupt our lives. UCT, then set Vision 2030, a future-facing, innovative and bold plan that enabled UCT to lead the changes and shape the future rather than react to it. The plan dared the university to realise its full potential and to be a trailblazer.
At the heart of Vision 2030 is UCT’s commitment to discover and create new ways to approach South Africa’s complex problems and to unleash Africa’s human potential to build a fair and just society.
As you know, one of key pillars of Vision 2030 is to advance holistic, innovative future-oriented education.
Affordable, quality education is the most important tool everyone needs to help build our continent. It is the only way we can close the inequality gap in this country. It is something I know you all want for your own children and all children.
Please join me for the announcement of this incredible project that we believe has the potential to shift quality, excellent education in Africa.
