In remembrance: Lauren Vogel

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our student, Ms Lauren Vogel (32), on Thursday, 18 November 2021. Ms Vogel joined the University of Cape Town in 2020 and was studying towards an LLM in Public Law in the Faculty of Law.
Ms Vogel has been described as a warm, ebullient rebel. She was very intelligent, caring and kind.
She is survived by her sister Janine, uncles, aunts and stepfamily.
The family held a small memorial service on Friday, 26 November in Fresnaye, Cape Town. One of the most moving statements recorded by a friend was “I wish she could have seen herself through my eyes”.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Vogel family and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved her during this time of bereavement.
