In remembrance: Charmaine Geogina Buys

It is with deep sadness that we write to inform you of the death of Mrs Charmaine Geogina Buys (58), a reconciliation clerk in Procurement and Payment Services (PPS) in the Finance Department. She passed away on Wednesday, 29 December 2021 after a long illness.
She has been described as a warm, friendly, caring, loving and honest person. She was a mother figure to many in the PPS team. Colleagues remember her as being like a ray of sunshine who radiated happiness, laughter and joy in the office.
Mrs Buys is survived by her husband Greg, daughter Meagan, son Chadwin, and four grandchildren.
Her funeral took place on Saturday, 8 January 2022 in Silvertown, Athlone.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Buys family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew her.
