In remembrance: Gcobisa Felicity Xalabile

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Ms Gcobisa Felicity Xalabile (46), on Friday, 27 March 2022 following a short illness.
Ms Xalabile joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2015. She was a librarian in the Science and Engineering section of UCT Libraries.
Colleagues described her as an extremely principled individual. She was always direct and to the point, they said. She has also been described as extremely knowledgeable and a person who enjoyed working in the Science and Engineering section. She was well respected by the members of the Science, Engineering & the Built Environment faculties. Her family has described her as loving and caring.
She is survived by her mother, two brothers, a daughter and a nephew.
Ms Xalabile was laid to rest on 9 April in Lady Frere, Eastern Cape.
The university has contacted the Xalabile family to offer support during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved her.
