The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Students’ Representative Council (SRC) will be celebrating Africa Day, with the theme: “No African country can achieve ultimate independence in isolation”.
The theme speaks to the fact that everyone has a contribution to make with their respective strengths and skills to uprooting colonial aftermath. Speaking on his political contributions will be guest speakers, Zimbabwean journalist and filmmaker Hopewell Chin’ono, creative and fashion designer Lesotho Thabo Makhetha and agriculturalist, creative and author Hombakazi Mercy Nqandeka.
The speakers will cover pan-Africanism in the respective three themes: pan-Africanism, environmental sustainability and social activism. The event will include drumming, performances, best dressed, raffle ticket prizes and more.
