Development Dialogues cycle: June 2022 to May 2023

Dear colleagues

As you are aware, 31 May 2023 marks the end of the PASS and senior staff Development Dialogue (DD) cycle for the period 1 June 2022 to 31 May 2023. Our 2023–2024 DD cycle is such that 1 June 2023 marks the beginning of the cycle ahead.

The DD system aims to create alignment between the University of Cape Town’s strategic goals and individual performance goals by ensuring effective feedback and forward planning.

While regular, formal and informal engagements take place throughout the cycle, the formal cumulative/summative DD must be documented and completed by the end of June 2023.

As an employer of choice, we aim to focus not only on the past cycle of performance, but also look to the future with a focus on individual and team development plans, career planning, succession planning, and the identification of scarce and critical skills. We invite Development Forums to engage deeply and meaningfully with these critical talent planning activities.

Your Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is available to guide you through the process. The HRBPs will distribute a comprehensive timeline to the executive and other line managers in due course.
