In remembrance: Zukhanye Kalipa

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our student, Ms Zukhanye Kalipa (23) on Friday, 8 September 2023. Ms Kalipa, a Bachelor of Social Science (BSocSc) student, passed away due to illness at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Ms Kalipa enrolled for the BSocSc four-year programme, majoring in English and sociology, at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2019.
She has been described as a friendly and open person, and will be remembered as someone who made a good impression on anyone from the first day they met. She had a very bubbly and extroverted personality, was able to strike a conversation and made everyone laugh. She was also a very intelligent and thoughtful friend.
Ms Kalipa is survived by her mother Zukelwa and grandmother Nompumelelo. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, 23 September 2023, at her home in Mdantsane, East London.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Kalipa family during this time of bereavement and our sincere condolences go out to all who knew and loved her.
