In remembrance: Adielah Abrahams

It is with heavy hearts that we write to inform you of the death of Ms Adielah Abrahams (53), a front desk assistant in Varietas Residence Student Housing. She passed away on Monday, 25 September 2023 after a short illness.
Ms Abrahams will be remembered as someone who cared for her colleagues and their well-being; and always encouraged a cordial working environment. Her passion for the students always stood out in ensuring their well-being. It is this passion for students that will be missed by all who knew and interacted with her. All the students always referred to her as Auntie Adielah, reflecting their appreciation for her motherly love towards them.
She leaves behind her three sons, Maahier, Yusuf and Zakaria.
Her funeral took place on Tuesday, 26 September 2023 at her home in Old Woodlands, Mitchells’ Plain. The Department of Student Affairs is working with the family in arranging a memorial service and will share details via departmental communication channels in due course.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Abrahams family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.
