In remembrance: Kamaladevi “Denise” Scheepers

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mrs Kamaladevi “Denise” Scheepers (51), on 28 November 2023.
Mrs Scheepers joined the University of Cape Town in June 2014 as a purchasing officer in the Student Housing & Residence Life department.
Her colleagues described her as a strong and dedicated mother who loved her children dearly. Mrs Scheepers will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly person, and for her great sense of humour. She was a well-loved church member and actively participated in her church community. She made friends across the university, and her colleagues will remember her fondly for having an honest work ethic and for the constant support and guidance she provided when needed.
The family held a private funeral ceremony on 7 December 2023 and a memorial service celebrating Mrs Scheepers’ life took place on 9 December 2023.
She is survived by her son Luke and daughter Ridzwana.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Scheepers family, and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved her during this time of grief.
