In remembrance: Aphiwe Khuboni

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our student, Mr Aphiwe Khuboni, on Saturday, 2 December 2023. He passed away at Pholela Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal, after a tragic car accident.
The 19-year-old was enrolled for a BSc in Civil Engineering at first-year level in 2023.
Mr Khuboni has been described as a diligent young man who respected everyone. He is remembered for being grounded in his family's Christian values. His family has regarded him as a beacon of hope and one who strived to change the lives of many.
He is survived by his mother Nonkanyiso, and his brothers Siboniso and Bayabonga.
The funeral was held on Saturday, 9 December 2023 at his home in the rural Ncwadi Administrative Area in Deepdale, KwaZulu-Natal.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Khuboni family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew Mr Khuboni.
