Exness Fintech scholarships: Applications are open

Global multi-asset broker Exness has, for a second consecutive year, partnered with the University of Cape Town (UCT) to give several bright young minds the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies at UCT.

The Exness Fintech Scholarship has been designed to further develop academic excellence among talented students from marginalised communities, and to help nurture and empower the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields in South Africa.

Exness uses a combination of technology and ethics to create favourable markets for traders and raise the industry benchmark. The Exness Fintech Scholarship is the first of its kind offered at university level by a broker. The first cohort of recipients at UCT kick-started their postgraduate study programmes last year.

The nuts and bolts

Martin Thorvaldsson, the head of community at Exness, said scholarship recipients will receive comprehensive financial assistance that covers tuition fees in full, as well as living expenses, either partially or completely, depending on the recipient’s financial needs. To qualify for this bursary, applicants should hold an existing offer of acceptance to study computer science or mathematics at UCT and must maintain a grade point average of 70%.

“We are eager to support another cohort of talented students and help them contribute in their own way to the advancement of technology and science both in South Africa and [in] the world as a whole.”

Thorvaldsson said Exness believes that education and technology have the power to transform lives, and their scholarship demonstrates their dedication to nurturing talented students who can ultimately advance the sector.

Currently, the scholarship also supports students in Kenya and Cyprus and plans are under way to expand its reach to other countries as well – giving more deserving students the opportunity to fulfil their educational aspirations.
