In remembrance: Libhongo Tokwe

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of our students, Ms Libhongo Tokwe (20). She passed away on Sunday, 14 July 2024, after a short illness.
Ms Tokwe was a first-year economics and business studies student in the Faculty of Humanities.
Her friends and family described her as humble, kind and sweet. She is remembered by those who were close to her as someone who was generous, always willing to share. She had a calm aura, which made her easily approachable.
She is survived by her mother Daniswa and sister Sinalo.
Her funeral was held in Qonce, in the Eastern Cape, on Saturday, 20 July 2024.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, 29 July 2024 from 19:00 at Liesbeeck Gardens residence.
The university is offering support to, and keeping Ms Tokwe’s family in our thoughts during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences to the family and all who knew Ms Tokwe.
