Support services offered by SWS
SWS reminds all students of the available health services.
SWS main clinic
Located at the Ivan Toms Building on lower campus in Mowbray, the SWS main clinic provides comprehensive primary health care, including medical services, pharmacy, counselling and social work. Operating hours are from Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 16:30.
Upper campus clinic
Limited medical services are available at the upper campus clinic in the Steve Biko Students Union Building. The clinic operates from Monday to Friday, between 08:30 and 16:30.
Please note that Ivan Toms and Steve Biko clinics do provide walk-in service for students with high risk symtoms. All other consultations must be pre-booked online. For nursing advice, contact the SWS nurse triage line at 021 650 5620 during operational hours.
Important note: The SWS clinics are closed on weekends. Students can access 24-hour telephonic counselling services during this time.
Counselling services
Students needing counselling can book online or email peer counsellors for support. Immediate access is available through:

b) Panda app for online support
This can be downloaded from an app store. Once downloaded, create an anonymous profile. Please use the promo code "SWS Cares" for free 1:1 text support.

Pharmacy services
Students can purchase over-the-counter medication and collect prescribed medication after a consultation with an SWS clinician. Students must book the collection of repeat medications online. This service is available only for those with valid SWS clinician prescriptions.
