UCT students share their passion for the beloved tradition of braai. Celebrated for its communal spirit, the braai not only brings friends and families together but also creates an atmosphere of joy and connection. Students recount their favourite moments, from enjoying boerewors rolls to belting out songs like ‘Waka Waka’ around the fire. With each braai event, they embrace the camaraderie that comes with grilling, even when the ‘braai masters’ sometimes leave the food a little burnt.

As they reflect on their braai experiences, it becomes clear that this culinary ritual is more than just cooking; it’s a cherished social event that strengthens bonds and fosters a sense of belonging. From sharing food to laughing over slightly charred meat, braai remains an integral part of student life at UCT, epitomising the essence of South African community and tradition.
