In this insightful conversation, former University of Cape Town (UCT) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Max Price sat down with recently appointed VC Prof Mosa Moshabela to reflect on leadership, higher education, and the evolving challenges and opportunities at UCT.

Dr Price discussed his experiences from 2008 to 2018, sharing key lessons, achievements, and the difficult decisions he faced during his tenure. Drawing from his recently published book Statues and Storms: Leading through Change, he relayed how his leadership navigated turbulent times, including the student-led Rhodes Must Fall movement.

Prof Moshabela, in turn, outlined his vision for the future of UCT, informed by the transformative events of the past decade in South African higher education.

The two leaders compared their experiences, offering a unique conversation on leadership philosophies that shaped, are shaping and will shape one of South Africa’s top universities.
