Dear colleagues and students
You are warmly reminded to register for the upcoming 2024 UCT Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC2024), which will take place on 20–21 November at the Neville Alexander Building on lower campus.
This year’s theme, “All about Curriculum: New Visions and Future Directions”, invites you to discuss, and reimagine the very foundation of our educational practices. This year’s conference, with its focus on curriculum, has surfaced exciting activities in our community related to multilingualism in classrooms, decolonising curricula through a focus on local context, co-designing curricula with student and community partners, and the use of transformative technologies as part of curricula.
Keynote Address: Automation for Transformation in Learning Spaces
We are excited to announce that Professor Hussein Suleman, Dean of Science and Professor of Computer Science at UCT, will deliver this year’s keynote address. His talk, Automation for Transformation in Learning Spaces, will explore how automation and technology can enhance learning equity, creating more inclusive pathways for students from diverse backgrounds. Professor Suleman’s insights are rooted in years of research into low-resource, innovative teaching tools that bridge systemic gaps and transform the student experience, making this keynote an essential highlight.
TLC 2024 is an opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and engage with new perspectives on the future of curricula at UCT.
Sincerely
The Centre for Innovation in Learning & Teaching
