End-of-year support service by SWS

Dear students

The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Student Wellness Service (SWS) will continue providing services leading to and during the festive period to support students in effectively accessing health services as and when needed.

Please note the following regarding available services during the vacation period:

SWS Main Clinic at Ivan Toms Building

The clinic, located on lower campus in Mowbray, operates from Monday to Friday, 08:30–16:30. The clinic is closed on weekends and public holidays. It offers comprehensive primary healthcare services, including medical services, pharmacy, counselling and social work.

Please note that the university will close from from Friday, 27 December to Tuesday, 31 December 2024. As a result, the clinic will be closed during this period.

Upper Campus Clinic

This clinic is temporarily operating from Ivan Toms Building since 2 December 2024, and will reopen on 6 January 2025.

Walk-in services

These are available for high risk students with emergencies, without an appointment, during working hours. Please note these services are available for students with high risk symptoms. All other consultations should be pre-booked online.

Pharmacy services

Students can collect prescribed medication at the pharmacy post-consultation. Repeat medication collection must be booked online. Other services offered include over-the-counter medication; medical advice and other health-related support.

Please note that the pharmacy will be closed from 27–31 December 2024.

Support is available by calling the following numbers:

  • During working hours: 021 650 5620
  • After hours: 021 650 1271 (nurse triage line)
