Dear colleagues and students
The Office for Inclusivity and Change at the University of Cape Town, in collaboration with Stellenbosch University’s Equality Unit, will host the second instalment of “Unravelling the Thread” workshop on anti-racism.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday, 18 March and Wednesday, 19 March 2025 from 09:00 to 16:00 at the Stellenbosch GBV Center (29 Protea Street, Idasvallei, Stellenbosch).
In recent years, both institutions have grappled with multiple reports of racism – ranging from interpersonal and internalised, to institutional and systemic – documented in media coverage and official university reports. These incidents have led faculties, departments, relevant units and other campus entities to implement various interventions. However, there remains a shortage of facilitators and experts to design, implement and evaluate initiatives that engage multiple stakeholders. This workshop aims to bridge that gap by equipping a select group with the necessary skills to drive meaningful change.
The workshop will concentrate on racial justice interventions conducted within the current policy guidance’s “informal process”. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and expertise in managing interventions that promote racial justice and involve diverse stakeholders.
The workshop content will include:
This learning opportunity is open to individual facilitators. Staff and students are invited to participate in this workshop.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, 4 March 2025 to Quinton Apollis.
Sincerely
Office for Inclusivity and Change
