Acting Dean in the Faculty of Health Sciences
30 July 2018Dear colleagues and students
Following Professor Bongani Mayosi’s passing on 27 July, the UCT executive have been in touch with the senior leadership of the Faculty of Health Sciences to decide on the best possible transition in the office of the dean. After consultation with the faculty’s heads of department, we have decided to appoint Dr Reno Morar as acting dean of the faculty from Monday, 30 July, until Friday, 31 August.
During this period the executive will support Dr Morar to ensure the stability of the faculty and will oversee the appointment of an interim dean, who will be at the helm of the faculty until the process of searching for and appointing a substantive dean is completed.
Our thanks go to the senior leadership of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Dr Morar in particular, for their commitment and solidarity in this critical moment for all their staff and students.
