Mamela Nyamza presents a challenge to Baxter patrons – through her much lauded and provocative dance works Rock to the Core and De-Apart-Hate.

Nyamza is known for confrontational and introspective pieces and this double bill is no exception – she challenges both herself and the world she lives in.

Rock to the Core aims to disrupt the arts community – in which black women artists, in particular, are under-represented – by engaging with the notion of socio-economic disability.

De-Apart-Hate depicts forces of oppression within intolerant societal systems, and the anxieties that come accompany them.

Rock to the Core runs from 17 to 21 October at 19:30 nightly, with selected 15:00 Saturday matinees.

De-Apart-Hate runs from 24 to 28 October at 19:30 nightly, with selected 15:00 Saturday matinees.

Both carry an age restriction of 14 years.
