The annual University of Cape Town (UCT) Genesis Product Launch and Expo will take place on 10 August 2022 and will showcase the start-ups of some of South Africa’s most promising student entrepreneurs. Students learn how to set up and run their own businesses as part of a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship.
Attracting thousands of local and international applicants each year, UCT’s Genesis programme is a prestigious and highly competitive honours-level programme. Since inception, well over a decade ago, the programme has grown exponentially and has gone on to develop outstanding business leaders, entrepreneurs, and pioneers across several sectors and industries. The success of this programme is attributable to its core ideology, which focuses on empowering students to locate their authentic inner voices while being proactive artists who apply their knowledge to the realm of business and entrepreneurship. Each year Genesis incubates several student start-ups, taking young entrepreneurs through the fundamentals of business – from raising start-up capital in innovative ways to the day-to-day operation and management of businesses.
The students compete for the coveted UCT Genesis Award and showcase their businesses at
the expo attended by industry business leaders and members of the UCT community.
