In remembrance: Jeffrie Pienaar

We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Mr Jeffrie Pienaar (53), who served as senior inspector in the Campus Protection Services department. Mr Pienaar passed away in hospital on Thursday, 3 October 2024 following a long illness.
He joined the University of Cape Town as a campus protection officer in July 2016.
His friends, family and colleagues will remember him as a humble, loving and friendly person. He was recognised by his colleagues as a great leader who made a notable impact on their lives. He was a family man and had strong influence on his church community and friends.
Mr Pienaar is survived by his wife Sandra; three sons, Jefferson, Jerenavon and Shane; and three grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Saturday,12 October 2024 in Lotusville, Aberdeen in the Eastern Cape.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Pienaar family, and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved Mr Pienaar during this time of bereavement.
