Dear colleagues and students

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mr Lindani Mahlentle (41), a campus protection officer who was based at the law library on middle campus. Mr Mahlentle passed away on Wednesday, 27 November 2024 at his home.

He joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) in July 2016.

Mr Mahlentle will be remembered as a quiet person with a beautiful personality. He was known for focusing on his work, and he contributed greatly to the work of the department. His colleagues described him as someone who had a great relationship with them and as a great team player. They also remember him for how much he cared for his family and siblings.

Mr Mahlentle is survived by his partner Nozaziso; mother Novumile; sister Ongeziwe; brothers Siphathise and Phumelani; sons Amzolele and Sinokhanyo; daughter Likhanye; and uncles Phula-Phula and Thembalenkosi.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, 14 December 2024 at his home in Etwa location, Qumbu in the Eastern Cape.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Mahlentle family, and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved him during this time of bereavement.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
