THE TRANSITION of UCT staff members to Discovery Health Medical Scheme has been completed, with over 2 700 UCT staff members having been transferred to the scheme.
The company took on a massive new membership corps from January 1, as more than 75 000 new principle members were added to their books.
“Although a number of capturing and other problems were experienced, Discovery Health has indicated that the UCT group was the most accurate and efficient transfer of all the new group transfers,†said Judith du Toit, Head: Human Resources Remuneration and Policy.
Good news is that Discovery Health is offering an on-campus service for the resolution of claims queries. A consultant will be available by appointment only between 10h00 and 12h00 each Wednesday, starting on March 5. The consultant will only consider queries that have already been referred formally to Discovery Health and that have a reference number.
Staff members who would like to meet with the consultant should make an appointment through Susan Williams, email
swilliam@bremner.uct.ac.za, ext 4376), and should bring the relevant documentation and reference number along.
Claims boxes have been placed in the Bremner foyer and the main foyer of the Library on Upper Campus. The claims will be cleared weekly and collected from Bremner by Discovery Health.
