While the men's hockey first side was off in Pretoria landing the national spoils, the women's first and men's second sides were doing some silverware-caching of their own back home.
The two squads made a clean sweep of the laurels at the Western Province Hockey Union's (WPHU) post-league knockout championships, played at Hartleyvale last week.
The women won the Merle Sterley Trophy by overrunning Constantiaberg 7-0 in the final. Captain Kerry Bee scored a hat trick on the evening.
The men's second side then scooped the Vic de Mink Trophy in a surprise 3-1 win over league runners-up Fish Hoek (the UCT side finished sixth on the WPHU grand challenge log) in the men's final. George Eadie, Rowan Duys and Dave Portman netted for UCT.
