UCT Libraries has received a donation of R70 000 from the fledgling Deutsche Bank Africa Foundation, employing the money to purchase books for the Nedbank Commerce Library.
The university recently hosted a thank-you function at which library staff, including executive director Joan Rapp and commerce librarian Alex d'Angelo, showed off its purchases to representatives from both the foundation and its parent company, the Deutsche Bank. The commerce library and the Faculty of Commerce had selected the titles together.
The Deutsche Bank and the Foundation were represented by Mert Black and UCT alumnus Tsholo Diale, respectively.
The Deutsche Bank Africa Foundation, based in Johannesburg, supports educational, development-related and job creation projects in Africa. It was founded in 2001 and began its work in 2002.
